Tissue & Me

For those who suffer with allergy and sinus issues and cannot enjoy simple things in life.

He Smells Good With Jimmy Choo and Blue!

If you’ve ever lived with me, you know that I pretty much dictate the scents that are worn by others. If you’ve never lived with me, lucky you! There were advantages while living with my mom and dad. My mom and I shared fragrances that I could tolerate and sometimes she would take my special “smell-good” as her own and I would have to search for it! My dad was not very picky, he’d appreciate any scent that I got for him. And then there is my husband. When we met, he smelled just like the Three Kings of Orient. Dreamy. Delectable. Spiritual.

But then I had to break the news to him: I’m allergic to most scents. Although he was a little sad that he had to be cautious with his colognes and essential oils, he was very respectful of this.

His life shouldn’t have to stop because his choice of smell-good will have me on the sick and shut-in list at church.

And then one day he hits me with, “You should go pick some cologne that you would like for me to wear.” I internally panic. He can’t be serious. He really wants me to go to a counter and sniff the latest trends in cologne?
I agree to go. His life shouldn’t have to stop because his choice of smell-good will have me on the sick and shut-in list at church. But seriously, I do want him to have what he wants and I will make the sacrifice for him.

It takes weeks for me to go shopping because of the unpredictable weather, my work schedule, and other demands of life (I was actually waiting for Valentine’s day, tee-hee). I finally make it to the local smell-good counter. I was a bit apprehensive in fear of sneezing, stuffiness, and a major headache. I was wondering how in the world will I be able to keep the fragrances from blending in my nostrils. Little did my sheltered self know that the coffee beans on the counter were to clean my “nose palate”. How. Cool. Is. THAT!!! I finally found TWO fragrances during my shake and sniff activities. Jimmy Choo Man Blue and Coach Blue. Although the titles are blue, the scents are not! The scents are long-lasting on him and do not fade during the day. These scents also do not bother my sinuses unless I am in the vicinity of the direct spritz.

Although this task was very frightening for me, I persevered! This is a major accomplishment for me. A happy husband = a happy wife.

Next: A smell-good for me. Stay tuned.

About Me

I’m an outsider that likes to peek on the inside. I am an extreme introvert, but will become an extrovert for the right people. I avoid social situations, not because of the extreme introvertism, but because people make me sick–literally. With this unfortunate condition, that’s why there’s my tissue and me. Literally.
